The KGBeast premiered in a multi-part storyline in the Batman comics several years ago, possibly between Jason's death and Tim's debut. The KGBeast was killing certain people in Gotham, the last of whom was supposed to be the President of the United States--Ronald Reagan, at the time--during his visit to the city. During an early encounter between KGBeast and Batman, KGBeast pounded Batman and ran only because he thought Batman had back-up. Batman realized that that error saved his life, and chased KGBeast across the rooftops, knowing that he had to be more careful. Batman could barely keep up, and after losing track of him after being unable to make a certain jump, thought to himself that "I've finally encountered somebody who's better at this than I am." During a later encounter, Batman caught KGBeast's wrist in a loop of the Batrope. He figured he'd just hang there until somebody showed up to arrest KGBeast. However, rather than be captured, KGBeast cut off his own hand with an ax. Finally, Batman and Commissioner Gordon consulted Reagan and sneaked him into the city, and into his destination building, without the knowledge of the Secret Service agents, one of whom was, they thought, a spy. Batman chased KGBeast through the sewers until he entered a room with no other exit. Batman admitted that, in the past, he would have felt the need to fight his opponent, but he was a bit wiser, and merely locked him in the room.
The next time we met KGBeast was, as far as I know, in the third Robin mini-series. All I can recall is that the Huntress was involved, and I think Shiva, and the plotline turned out to involve the counterfeitting of the common European money before it was ever introduced in Europe. Robin altered the press to write "Money can't buy me love" on every bill, so the counterfeit money couldn't be passed off as legitimate.
The last time we met KG Beast was during the Troika incident, which was Bruce's first encounter after returning to assume the mantle from Dick. KG Beast got a hold of a baseball sized nuclear device, and it ended up that Robin fought him. This was a crucial point in Robin's career, as he had the opportunity to use a gun, and remembered Batman's admonishment that it was better to never use one, whether for Good or Evil.
