Garfield Lynns is a pyromaniac who lights fires for the sake of loving fire. He seems to think that he sees things in the flames he creates - some sort of sirens. As a results, Batman thinks that this guy is an absolute nutcase. And a dangerous one at that!

Firefly recently escaped from Blackgate Prison, and holed up in an apartment for people who are hiding from the police. He paired up with a man from the future to steal diamonds for the other man's use - this allowed this other man to escape when Batman showed up, since Batman was worried about what Firefly would do (he nearly killed Robin).

In the past, Firefly beat out Firebug for a job in the Black Mask gang, torching buildings for him.
