Bane, of course, was the man who broke Batman. Bane began a very successful attempt to control all crime in Gotham City, by requiring a "tribute" - some 50% of all the take. Bane was captured by Jean Paul Valley shortly after he became Batman. After spending some time in Blackgate, Bane kicked the Venom habit. After getting the tar kicked out of him, Bane escaped (with some help from KGBeast) and is now trying to prevent the flow of Venom into Gotham. When he met up with Batman, he did not want to fight him (contrary to Batman's desires).

Bane recently joined forces with Ra's Al Ghul, and was promised Talia's hand in marriage. Finally, in Detective Comics #701, Bane and Batman had their long-awaited rematch. Read the comic to find out who won! Trust me, it's well worth the money...

Most recently, Bane has effected the release of Bird from prison, and Azrael has taken on the task of re-capturing him.
