Oracle is Barbara Gordon, Jim Gordon's daughter. While Barbara was Batgirl for a long time, the Joker shattered her spine when he shot several years ago. Barbara is now physically confined to a wheelchair; however, this does not remove her as a valuable asset to Gotham's crimefighters; she has been known to help certain heroes from Metropolis as well. She has become Oracle, using her amazing abilities at information collection and organization to gather information. Oracle knows the identities of Batman, Robin, Azrael, and Nightwing. Unfortunately, Oracle has not made it into many Batman stories lately - this is our loss, as she is an excellent character and really seems to help Batman and Robin in their detective work.

Oracle is now a partner in the Birds of Prey - she teams up with Black Canary, acting as her "guardian angel" and providing her with intelligence reports.
