Azrael is the Avenging Angel of the Order of Saint Dumas. An assassin, trained since birth through hyponsis, Azrael is an extremely effective warrior. The System, as it is called, kicks in when Jean Paul Valley is threatened, and he becomes Azrael. Azrael recently learned that he is half-human and half-animal: while conceived in a human's womb, he is injected with animal hormones and bred in a machine. Azrael has been joined in his journeys by Brian, a former psychologist and former alcoholic, and by Sister Lily, a former member of The Order of Saint Dumas.
