I've liked Batman ever since I was a kid I'm 14 now but I still like to read the comics. I was always hoping they would make a new version of te batman movies. I just found out today they are! I was wondering if you could help me. I just recently saw the previews for the newest film with Batman, "Batman Begins" You may just be knowledged in the comics, but maybe you can steer me in a direction I could go to find the info I'm looking for. I guess my question is who really did kill his parents? The Joker, or TwoFace... When "Batman Begins" shows Bruce seeing his destiny at the bottom of a well, doesn't that conflict with the cave in "Batman Forever"? And what about Joe Chill? I know little about him, but supposedly he truely killed Bruces parents, will he be the villain in the new film? Quite a lot of work has been put into this site, and I especially like the index of characters. I´ve given up trying to read the new storylines since everything I´ve ever loved about Batman seems to be missing. So I am not up to date with what has been going on in the last ten years. I am a general comis fan, a fan of the artform itself, but of course there have been favorites. One of them is Batman. I think it´s a shame that only the superhero genre seems to be popular in the states since it´s the variety of genres that makes comics wonderfull. As a european I´ve always read both american and european comics: graphic novels and newspaper strip, underground and mainstream, "humour" and "hero" stuff, satirical ones as well as epic ones, those designed for adults and those designed for the kids, and then also those for both. One of those is Batman. I began to read Batman in 1981, when I was 6 years old, although it took another comicbook to grap my interest. My dad gave a Superman magazine with a Teen Titans back-story. When asking about Robin I was told that he was the adopted son of Batman, who at that time were unknown to, but then so was Superman and Spiderman. My dad showed a Batman comic in a store window, but didn´t buy it as it was in german translation and I cant read German. But I was hooked on the long ears and the fins on the gloves, so a little while later my mom gave me a Batman comic book. It had a cover by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez (I found out many years later, as a 6 year old have no concept of such things). That was it. My favorite superhero (although I also like many of hte others). I grew up with the style that I later recognized as the "Neal Adams-style", not just those drawn by Adams (the best) but also those drawn by Dick Giordano, Jim Aparo, Don Newton, Marshall Rogers and Jose Luis Garcia-lopez (of course). Those stories were written by Denny O´neill ("There is no hope in Crime Alley, The Jokers 5-way revenge"), Gerry Conway (the introduction of Killer Crock and one of the best stories featuring the lovestory between Batman and catwoman -"never scratch a cat"), Steve englehart ("Strange Apparitions"), and for me the golden years of the will always be 1970 - 1985. I never liked the campy Dick Sprang style, and those emulating that. Batman must have long ears, huge cape, a tall gracefull appearance, and the face like Clint Eastwood. Catwoman is my favorite supporting character and aside from Conway, I think Alan Brennert ("the autobiography of Bruce Wayne") and Eric Lustbader ("the last angel") have been best at capturing the love/hate relationship between the two. No other Love interests should be in the series. It is mainly because I like Catwoman so much that I dont like the Frank Miller stories DKR and BYO. He once did a Batman Christmas Carrol that was good, done in his Daredevil style, but with the two graphic novels he went overboard in violence and degradation. I loathe the idea of depicting Catwoman as a pitifull prostitute. If some one wants to write a story like that they should use their own creations insted of fucking up classic characters. A sick little man. Unfortunately Miller seems to be the hero of Batman writers and-artists to today, but as far as I know Dick Giordano didn´t like this idea, and I know that Bob Kane absolutely did not. apparently there seems to be three styles as far as writing Batman goes: 1) The sprang-era 2) the Adams-era, and the time of Frank Miller. Equally sacrilegious to the series are the films. All four of them are misfires as far as stories, characterization, casting, acting and costume-design goes. At least the Adam West version was fun, and fairly loyal to the look and style of the sixties Batman. I personally doubt that Batman can survove these contrived gimmicks and alterations by overambitious and fucked up writers, artists, and directors. Dennis

Micheal Keaton is THE ONLY BATMAN. George Clooney totally wrecked a Batman movie that could have been great. Clooney's pretty-boy looks and attitude don't match with Batman's awesome personality! Micheal Keaton fitted the part perfectly. The villians were all casted wonderfully, however. Robin sucks, he is a little wimp trying to be cool. Batwoman could have been great, but she sucked too. I so agree with this site, about one of the reasons he's so popular is because he earned everything he is, he wasn't born with it. I love Batman, he's my hero! hehe, I'm doing a speech for school about how batman is better than superman. most peopel think i'm a big geek, but it's cooler than some of their topics. and when i was little, i saw my dad's boxers in the laundry and they had Batman on them, and then he told me he was batman and his secret batcave was below our house. and i believed him! and told all my friends! Hey,I must admit that this site has done very well in maintaining the concept of the DarkKnight.The Batman was my very first favorite SuperHero since I was 3 yrs old.And today I still am a fan of the DarkKnight.Through good&bad times of my life,Batman was always there for me as a sign of hope and justice to the innocent.The first movie I ever saw of Batman was the 1989 film.And thats how I became a fan of the Batman.I always thought that he(still is)was better than Superman.That 1989 film made me feel like I was the Batman himself.Gotham City was so realistic and just cool to look at.Tim Burton was true to the Batman's definitive character.The music by D.Elfman was so inspirational and magnificent to listen.I thank them and I thank Mr.Bob Kane for telling&making great stories ofBatman. I was also a fan of Batman:TAS.I even had most of the BatmanTAS figures.I even have a lot of unorganized Batman comic books of the 90s.The true definitive version of Batman is definitely Tim Burton's version.But the Batfilms of the 90s really Sucked ass.And JoeShumacher killed the popularity of the DarkKnight.When he killed Batman's era,a part of me was also gone.It was like losing a best friend.But I guess its time to grow up,I'm not a kid anymore,but I still have that respect for the Batman.And I'm proud to have been a fan of the DarkKnight.He was like a role model to me.And since I remember watching the 1989 version of Batman,I was kind of inspired to make my own film about Batman.If I get the chance to,I will make this film right and it won't be a disappointment.That is what has been on my mind lately.My film about Batman would be about the KnightFall/Quest/End sagas.Since Joel Shumacher failed miserably,I will do better and Justice will be served to the DarkKnight.I'm also glad to know that there are still fans of Batman,such as U,for being true to Batman.The definitive version of Batman for me would be that he is grim,dark,serious,Gothic,and that he fights crime as Avenging his parent's death.I know that U see Batman as I do,and I take Batman seriously.(Sorry I wrote too long)It was honor signing your GuestBook.

My whole family enjoys watching Batman, Batman Beyond, and JLA. Plus, it is something that the whole family can watch and we don't have to worry about what might be popping up in front of our child. I have a 4-year-old who has just about every Batman action figure that we can find and all the movies (animated and realistic). My son and I cruised through your site and we enjoyed it. I think it is great for him to have hero who is close to being a real person. He doesn't have super powers but he does have morals not to mention intelligence. My son runs around the house playing batman. I can remember how in my mind I thought Wonder Woman was actually real when I was younger, and I wanted to be like her. I've read comics for over 30 years and just now am discovering Batman! I always thought he was just the stupid, entertaining guy from the tv show. I can clearly say now that the best stories I have ever read are the ones from Batman these past few months. I especially like the Frank Miller ones although that may sound cliche'. I have a request - - - do you know of anywhere i can print up or otherwise obtain a list of all the batman stories in the "Batman" and "Detective Comics" titles, which includes the name of the writer (and artist if possible) so that I can pursue the reading of Batman stories from the perspective of my favorite writers??? I have asked this help in a ton of places on the web, but noone seems to know - maybe you do??? Anyway, I am a recent Batman convert for sure, and I keep ending up at your website - the other ones are real good too (some) but I just keep drifting back over here - so yours is surely the best yet!!!!! Great site folks! I must admit, though, that in the latest Batman movie, I thought the casting really sucked! Bane was turned into something rediculous and "Aahnold" as Mr. Freeze? PUHLEEEEEEEZE! Personally I thought that arnold should have played Bane and that the guy who played the main character's father in the Movie version of DUNE that came out several years ago, should have played the role of Mr. Freeze.

I'm still convinced that "Herr Arnold" would have made a better BANE in the last BATMAN movie, than Mr. Freeze, you know? Have any of you seen the original version of DUNE? I can't remember how it's spelled, but the guy who played DUKE LETO, you know, the main character's father? THAT'S the guy I'd want to play Mr. Freeze! I think for BATMAN V, Tim Burton should defferently direct it because his themes are always dark and grusem i.e (BATMAN & BATMAN RETURNS) not like that shitty, poor director of Shumacher??? Good job on having such a great site! You've pretty much got every thing here, except a multimedia section (but you can't have everything). I must say that I love Batman: The Animated Series as it really does justice to the characters of Batman, his allies, and his adversaries. The storylines are fantastic, the characters are believable, and the mood is eerie and undeniably Gotham. I wish it was still on TV, although I do have most of the videos put out - so I do have some degree of solace. With regard to the Batman movies, I must say that Batman (1989) is undeniably, without a doubt the best of the lot. Michael Keaton was a superb Bruce Wayne/Batman, as he was suave yet tough. Jack Nicholson as the Joker was the perfect touch, Jack brought the movie alive with the Joker's maniacal performance. Also, the Batmobile was pure class, sleek, dark and fast. Batman Returns wasn't too bad, same Batman, same car, same dank Gotham atmosphere (which I loved), although it was a bit too far over the top. Tim Burton does a great job in directing the first and second movies. I wont even mention the last two disasters, they were cheap, showy, over the top and much too hyped. They were in stark contrast to the first two movies, which were quite the opposite. Long live the Dark Knight of Gotham City. R.I.P. Bob Kane, your legend will live on through your wondrous creations.

Good job on having such a great site! You've pretty much got every thing here, except a multimedia section (but you can't have everything).I must say that I love Batman: The Animated Series as it really does justice to the characters of Batman, his allies, and his adversaries. The storylines are fantastic, the characters are believable, and the mood is eerie and undeniably Gotham. I wish it was still on TV, although I do have most of the videos put out - so I do have some degree of solace. With regard to the Batman movies, I must say that Batman (1989) is undeniably, without a doubt the best of the lot. Michael Keaton was a superb Bruce Wayne/Batman, as he was suave yet tough. Jack Nicholson as the Joker was the perfect tough, Jack brought the movie alive with the Joker's maniacal performance. Also, the Batmobile was pure class, sleek, dark and fast. Batman Returns wasn't too bad, same Batman, same car, same dank Gotham atmosphere (which I loved), although it was a bit too far over the top. Tim Burton does a great job in directing the first and second movies. I wont even mention the last two disasters, they were cheap, showy, over the top and much to hyped. They were in stark contrast to the first two movies, which were quite the opposite. Long live the Dark Knight of Gotham City. R.I.P. Bob Kane, your legend will live on through your wondrous creations.
