The Justice League of America is comprised of: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and the Martian Manhunter. This title has just been restarted as of January 1997, thanks to Grant Morrisson's proposal to revamp this title. Additional characters are being recruited over the course of the title (starting with #5), to bring the group up to twelve members. The first two characters also inducted were Tomorrow Woman and Green Arrow.
The first story in the title is about the Hyperclan, a group of aliens that appear to the people of the world as benefactors, helping solve problems such as famine, global warming, and so on. However, they quickly meet the JLA's suspicions when they start enacting their real agenda. In reality, this group was an advance force of Pale Martians, here to reclaim Earth (they ruled Earth over a million years ago). This was a great story, as Batman was the one who saved the JLA!
Grant Morrison has done an excellent job with this title so far. Batman has been used sparingly. Morrison's feeling is that Batman could defeat any member of the JLA, and that each member knows this. As a Batman fan, I like this take on Batman, so Morrison's writing has appealled to me, where Batman is concerned.
JLA headquarters are now on the Moon, so the JLA seems more and more like "protective gods" to the people of earth. Those members that cannot fly through space use transporters to get to The Citadel.
The Key was the most recent villain in JLA, and the Injustice Gang is next!
